Motability

What it is, How to Apply and Eligibility

Motability is a scheme that enables disabled people to use their Government funded mobility allowances to obtain a new car, scooter or powered wheelchair. As long as you are eligible for the Motability Scheme, you are entitled to a brand new mobility scooter or powered wheelchair every three years.

Motability is a not-for-profit organisation and the scheme has helped over three million individuals with their mobility needs since it was established in 1977.

As an approved dealer of the Motability Scheme, you can trust us to help you get the right mobility scooter or powered wheelchair for you or your loved one and make the application to the scheme on your behalf. As a dealer on the scheme we have received specialist training, which is continually updated so that we remain experts on the scheme.

Motability Eligibility

The scheme is available to anyone who receives the Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance, the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP), the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS) or the Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP).

To be eligible, those who wish to lease a mobility scooter or powered wheelchair through Motability must have at least twelve months left on their allowance by the time we make the application.

How to Apply for Motability

Once you have decided on a product we will send in an application on your behalf. Under normal circumstances you can expect to get your new scooter or electric wheelchair in just 1-3 weeks after applying for Motability.

This means that we can meet you or your loved one’s mobility needs without any worry of inconvenience or hidden costs.
